🚐 WYOMING- 6th STOP 🚩

July 7th- July 9th, 2020

Well, first Montana.  As much as we loved Custer State Park, that detour took us off course and we drove from South Dakota to Montana- arriving at 1:00am.

Driving through Wyoming towards Gardiner, Montana we had a tornado warning.  I snapped this picture on the highway. We were moving away from the storm clouds. πŸŒͺ⛈

We stopped in Gardiner for the night, at the north entrance to Yellowstone National Park.  We had a reservation with Wild West Rafting at 9:00am.

The kids all jumped off the raft into the Yellowstone River towards the end of our ride.  It was cold, but they were still loving it!

After a quick change of clothes we climbed back in the RV and headed to Yellowstone.  The north entrance is located in Montana and the first section you drive through is Mammoth.  If I wasn't so terrified of the twists, cliffs and insanly high altitude, I would have taken some videos or photos.

We made our way through Yellowstone about 1 1/2 hours into the park to the Madison campground.
We had a beautiful river, Fire Hole river, walking distance that ran off from the hot spring.  The water was fantastic. The kids swam and played in the water and Owen fished some more.

Yellowstone is incredible.  Everything is green and beautiful.  The west and south entrances are not nearly as scary to drive through.  We stopped along the way at hot springs, basins, geysers, and the Continental Divide.  We even made it just in time to see Old Faithful erupt.  The highest elevation we reached was 8,391 feet at West Thumb. 😳

Jackson, Wyoming

We left Yellowstone and headed towards Colter Bay Village- but decided we were too close to Jackson, Wyoming to pass up a day trip to see the town.  It is the cutest, little town surrounded by mountains and filled with fun places to explore.  We parked the RV and grabbed an outdoor lunch at E-leaven. We watched horse drawn carriages drive up and down the street. After lunch we trecked over to Snow King for a ride on their Cowboy Coaster- it's a self-controlled roller coaster that takes you up, then back down the mountain.  The kids loved this! Of course, we hit up the local candy store.

Last stop- Grand Teton

After a day in Jackson we drove back to Colter Bay Village, in Grand Teton, for the night.  Our camp spot was right on the gorgeous Lake Jackson.  The kids swam, went fishing, and even caught a frog. The lake was cold, but refreshing.  Phil even went for a swim.🏊πŸ₯Ά

That's Phil in the water.

Montana and Wyoming were absolutely spectacular!
